Job description
Role Overview
This position is for a finance and investment leader who will partner directly with the sole shareholder of a private investment holding company. The role is far broader than conventional CFO reporting; it is centered on capital deployment, portfolio performance, governance, fundraising, and building long-term value for the shareholder.
The person in this role will contribute across both the holding company and portfolio management functions, ensuring that capital decisions are tied to operating results, milestone achievement, risk-adjusted returns, and long-term internal rate of return. Success will require a blend of strategic judgment and hands-on execution across several portfolio businesses.
Key Areas of Ownership
- Drive capital allocation choices with a clear focus on value creation and portfolio returns.
- Support portfolio management activities across multiple operating businesses.
- Contribute to governance, performance monitoring, and shareholder-value planning.
- Work on fundraising, capital structuring, and broader financing strategies.
- Balance strategic direction with disciplined follow-through in a multi-company environment.
What the Role Requires
- Direct experience in capital allocation, portfolio management, and value creation initiatives.
- Background in mergers and acquisitions, including acquisitions, divestitures, due diligence, post-merger integration, and capital structuring.
- Hands-on exposure to buy-and-build or roll-up strategies in investor-led settings.
- Strong ability to manage stakeholders such as founders, leadership teams, investors, boards, and portfolio company management.
- Confidence in influencing decisions, resolving disagreements, and handling difficult conversations in a constructive way.
- Commercial understanding of B2B products and services.
- Practical use of generative AI tools and workflows to improve judgment and operating efficiency.
- Experience in private equity, venture capital, family office, or investment-holding environments is highly desirable.
Important Cultural and Business Fit
- Strong familiarity with India and UAE business culture and the ability to work effectively in relationship-driven environments.
- Prior experience collaborating closely with founders and entrepreneurial leadership teams.
- Exposure to startup, growth-stage, or investor-led board environments.
- High commercial acumen with the ability to balance governance requirements, speed, and execution.
Location and Working Style
- This is a remote role and applications are open globally.
- Preference will be given to candidates based in Dubai or India.
- Travel may be required.
- Experience working across multiple legal entities, jurisdictions, or investor-led organizations is an advantage.
Compensation Approach
Compensation is flexible for the right candidate. The package will include a meaningful performance-linked component tied to value creation, capital allocation outcomes, and shareholder returns.
The Mindset We Value
- Think with an investor’s perspective.
- Act with an owner’s accountability.
- Allocate capital with discipline.
- Make decisions based on risk-adjusted returns.
- Question assumptions using data and commercial judgment.
- Create systems that improve decision quality.
- Hold management teams accountable for execution.
- Focus on maximizing long-term shareholder value.
Education and Credentials
- A bachelor’s degree from a recognized university is mandatory.
- An MBA and/or professional finance certification such as CFA, CA, CPA, ACCA, or an equivalent qualification is strongly preferred.
- Candidates with exceptional experience in investing, M&A, capital allocation, and value creation may be considered even if they do not hold the preferred credentials.
Additional Notes
This role is intended for a finance leader who can operate like an investor and not merely as a reporting CFO. The right person will help shape decisions, strengthen governance, and improve the long-term performance of the shareholder’s investment platform.
