Job description

Role overview

MiCare is looking for a Greek-speaking Home Support Worker to join its home care team in Ormond, Victoria on a permanent part-time basis. The position suits someone who enjoys keeping homes clean and likes working with older people in a respectful, community-focused setting.

This is a regular part-time role with three or more working days each week. Shifts are flexible and fall between 8:00 am and 6:00 pm.

Pay is $32.86 per hour, plus 11.5% superannuation and salary packaging benefits available through the not-for-profit sector.

About MiCare

MiCare is a not-for-profit organisation delivering aged care, home care, retirement living and migrant support services to people from many different backgrounds. The organisation is built on inclusion, dignity and respect, with a belief that diversity should be valued and celebrated.

Key duties

The role supports clients in community home care programs, helping them remain independent and continue living at home. Work is guided by care plans for people assessed as needing lower-level support.

  • Carry out general household cleaning duties in client homes, including dusting, vacuuming, mopping, changing linen, doing laundry and cleaning bathrooms
  • Handle shopping and other errands independently on behalf of clients
  • Communicate professionally with clients in their homes and with family members or other relevant stakeholders
  • Observe and report any changes or concerns related to a client’s physical, emotional or behavioural condition in line with MiCare procedures and timelines
  • Manage communication effectively across all stakeholders and escalate major issues to the Service Coordination team or Team Leader when required

What you should bring

Applicants should have prior cleaning experience and a strong eye for detail, with a consistent focus on quality service. The work involves repetitive physical tasks, so good physical capacity is important.

You will need to be adaptable, able to travel as needed, and responsive to both client needs and organisational requirements. The role calls for someone who can work independently while still following direction when needed. A caring, patient and professional approach is essential.

You should also be comfortable using a smart device and computer systems for care notes, rostering and MiCare processes. Speaking a language other than English is considered an advantage, and Greek language skills would be especially relevant for this position.

Qualifications and checks

  • A Certificate II in Cleaning is preferred, though not compulsory
  • Willingness to complete a police check
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification
  • Valid Victorian driver’s licence
  • Access to a comprehensively insured and roadworthy vehicle
  • Proof of current influenza vaccination and full COVID-19 vaccination
  • Smartphone and access to a computer or similar device

Benefits

  • Flexible work arrangement
  • Attractive salary packaging options for the not-for-profit sector
  • The chance to make a meaningful difference in the lives of older people living at home
