About the role

The Parkside Group, a leading full-service public affairs agency based in New York, is hiring a temporary Graphic Designer to support its fast-moving political campaign work through the fall election period. The role sits on the Public Affairs Team, reports to the Creative Director, and is managed daily by the Project Manager for Creative Operations.

Key responsibilities

  • Create and refine client-facing print and digital advertising assets, along with a range of printed collateral.
  • Develop layouts and edit visuals across multiple formats to match client objectives, including direct mail, print materials, banner ads, native placements, social media creatives, and email graphics.
  • Choose strong, relevant images and photography that improve the impact of each piece.

Required qualifications

  • At least 3 years of professional experience in graphic design, with a strong grasp of printing workflows, photography, illustration, and typography.
  • Advanced expertise of 5+ years using Adobe Creative Cloud, especially InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator.
  • Working knowledge of CMYK and RGB color systems.
  • Access to a Mac OS laptop with Adobe Creative Cloud 2024 or later installed, including InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator.

Preferred background

  • Experience in an advertising agency or studio environment is preferred; advertising experience will also be considered.
  • Comfort with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace, especially Google Drive, Gmail, and Sheets.
  • An interest in Democratic politics is a plus.

Education

An associate degree is required. Higher education is welcomed and preferred.

Compensation and benefits

  • Pay is expected to be between $30 and $40 per hour.
  • This is a full-time temporary role that continues through the November election.
  • Sick leave is provided in line with New York State law.
  • The team supports professional development and skills growth.
  • Hybrid working arrangement with both home and office time.
  • New York City locality is required; during onboarding, the candidate should be available in the office 3 to 4 days per week, then at least 2 to 3 days per week through the election.
