JAW Sustainability is an established consultancy specializing in sustainability within the construction and property sectors. They provide services including embodied carbon analysis, whole life carbon assessments (WLCAs), Circular Economy reporting, environmental and wellbeing certifications, as well as building performance modeling covering energy and carbon, thermal comfort, overheating, and daylight/sunlight analysis. Operating from their Hoxton office, they engage in projects across London, the UK, and internationally. Founded nearly a decade ago, the company is currently expanding.

Job Overview

The position is for a Graduate Sustainability Consultant to support the Materials and Waste team in performing whole life cycle carbon assessments, pre-demolition audits, and Circular Economy evaluations. The ideal candidate will be proactive, ambitious, and eager to grow professionally within the company.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct whole life carbon assessments on new construction and refurbishment projects.
  • Perform pre-demolition audits, including onsite visits.
  • Develop strategies promoting Circular Economy principles in construction.
  • Collaborate with other internal teams to deliver complex, large-scale projects.
  • Engage closely with clients to produce tailored sustainability assessments aligned with project goals.
  • Prepare comprehensive, high-quality reports for clients and certification authorities.
  • Participate in client meetings and workshops.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering, sustainability, or related built environment disciplines.
  • Solid understanding of Whole Life Cycle carbon assessment methodologies.
  • Knowledge of Circular Economy concepts relevant to the construction industry.
  • Familiarity with carbon reporting software such as One Click LCA.
  • Proficiency with CAD tools, especially AutoCAD.
  • Strong teamwork capabilities.
  • Good understanding of building design and construction processes.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications, notably Excel.
  • Effective communication abilities.
  • Analytical mindset with competency in interpreting technical data.
  • Enthusiastic personality with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Capacity to work independently and take initiative.
  • Flexibility to adapt in evolving work environments.

Preferred Experience

  • Practical experience using Rhino3D, Grasshopper, or Autodesk Revit.
  • Previous involvement in carrying out Whole Life Cycle carbon assessments.
  • Advanced skills in carbon reporting platforms like OneClick LCA.
