Overview
Delta Air Lines serves more than 180 million customers each year and reaches over 300 destinations worldwide. Within the Ops Digital Decision Science (ODDS) team, analytics and AI/ML are used to support decision-making across major operational areas. The team is looking for a graduate-level Data Scientist intern who can build machine learning models, generate insights, and help create solutions that improve airline performance and operational decisions.
This role is aimed at someone who has academic exposure to machine learning, statistical analysis, and data storytelling. Strong organization, communication, and adaptability in a fast-moving environment are important for success.
Primary Functions
- Partner with a team of data scientists to build advanced analytics solutions for complex business challenges.
- Use SQL to gather data and carry out exploratory analysis.
- Communicate findings to business stakeholders through clear storytelling, visuals, and concise presentations.
- Build familiarity with new methods and tools in cloud-based environments.
Minimum Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Operations Research, or Computer Science.
- Hands-on experience using relational databases and SQL.
- Understanding of machine learning approaches, including Python, scikit-learn, or similar platforms.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to commit to the internship period from Aug 17, 2026 through Dec 11, 2026.
- Must be able to work onsite in the Atlanta, GA office.
- Comfortable working with diverse perspectives, thinking styles, and backgrounds.
- Places safety and security of self and others first at all times.
- Must be at least 18 years old and authorized to work in the United States.
