Job description
Overview
BlueScope is hiring a Graduate Analyst to join its Performance, Reporting & Risk function. This role sits within the broader Australian Steel Products portfolio and is based across Mascot and Port Kembla, supporting a large and intricate manufacturing operation that serves both domestic and export customers.
This opportunity is designed for someone starting out in finance who wants practical exposure to reporting, analysis, and business partnering. You’ll be part of a collaborative, high-performing team and receive structured support to grow your technical and commercial capability from the outset.
What you will be doing
- Assist with monthly finance routines, including reporting cycles, forecasts, and budgets, as well as journals, accruals, and reconciliations.
- Help prepare variance analysis and performance reporting for key cost centres so stakeholders can better understand results and their drivers.
- Work alongside teams such as Legal, Commercial, Safety, and other business areas to support planning, reporting, and performance management activities.
- Build a clear understanding of how financial information is assembled, interpreted, and communicated across a large business environment.
About you
- You are curious about how organisations operate and are keen to build a long-term career in finance.
- You enjoy working with data, exploring the “why” behind numbers, and converting information into useful insight.
- You bring a degree in Accounting, Commerce, or a closely related field.
- You are willing to work toward CA/CPA, or you may already have started that pathway.
- You have a solid grasp of finance fundamentals and want to apply them in a real business setting.
- You are comfortable using Excel and are eager to strengthen your technical skills further.
