Climeaction is an international leader in industrial decarbonisation and carbon intelligence, headquartered in Cork, Ireland, with additional offices in Boston and São Paulo. We partner with major clients in Life Science, Food & Beverage, Manufacturing, and Energy sectors to achieve measurable energy savings and carbon reductions through our Climate Action as a Service (CAaaS®) offering. The company holds B Corp and ISO 9001 certifications.
Role Overview
This unique opportunity targets recent or soon-to-be graduates eager to build their careers at the forefront of industrial decarbonisation. You will engage directly with clients on-site from the start, gaining practical experience with real energy systems and contributing to initiatives that impact both the environment and company finances.
Responsibilities
- Assist senior engineers with conducting energy assessments, site surveys, and collecting data within industrial environments.
- Analyze energy usage data to detect inefficiencies and propose energy-saving measures.
- Support preparation of technical documentation including reports, feasibility studies, calculations, and designs.
- Gain practical experience with essential industrial utility systems such as HVAC, steam, chilled water, low pressure hot water (LPHW), compressed air, cooling towers, and electrical distribution.
- Contribute to energy audits and establish baselines following standards like IS 399, EN 16247, and ISO 50001.
- Participate in Measurement Verification activities to monitor and confirm achieved savings post project implementation.
- Help draft project scopes, bills of quantities, and cost forecasts under senior supervision.
- Attend client meetings and site visits to build technical communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Collaborate with the engineering team on research, benchmarking, and process refinement of Climeaction’s technical practices.
- Engage in internal training programs guiding professional development towards chartership certification.
Candidate Requirements
- Possession of or current enrollment in a Level 8 or higher degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Energy, or Building Services Engineering, or a closely related field. Candidates graduating in 2026 are encouraged to apply.
- Demonstrated passion for energy, sustainability, and understanding of industrial system operations.
- Strong analytical aptitude and problem-solving abilities with competence in data handling, calculations, and technical concepts.
- Effective written and oral communication skills necessary for technical report writing and client interactions.
- Proactive and motivated learner who asks questions and takes initiative.
- Holding a full, clean driving license.
- Preferred qualifications: Relevant academic projects, thesis, or internships in energy efficiency, building services, or industrial systems; familiarity with engineering software such as AutoCAD, Revit, MATLAB, or energy modeling tools; knowledge or interest in standards like ISO 50001, IPMVP, SEAI energy programs; experience with advanced data analysis tools including Excel, Python, or equivalents.
Benefits and Working Conditions
- Competitive salary targeted at graduates.
- 25 days annual leave plus statutory public holidays.
- Employer-contributed pension scheme.
- Structured mentoring and career development support aimed at professional chartership (with institutions such as Engineers Ireland, IMechE, CIBSE, or equivalent).
- Hands-on project involvement from the outset rather than administrative assignments.
- Flexible working arrangements combining office presence, site attendance, and remote work.
- Collaboration with international colleagues across Ireland, the USA, and Brazil on impactful decarbonisation projects.
- Employment with a company committed to meaningful work and employee well-being.
