About the role
This is an opportunity for a recent engineering graduate to begin a career within a wastewater engineering team in Dublin. The position is suited to someone enthusiastic, curious, and ready to develop practical and technical skills across wastewater infrastructure work. You will contribute to projects that support communities and environmental outcomes while building experience in civil or environmental engineering.
The role offers involvement across the full project lifecycle, from early-stage studies through to detailed design and construction support. You will learn from experienced professionals in a collaborative setting and take part in a structured graduate programme during your first year. The programme combines mentoring, training, office-based development, and practical learning through site visits and site activities.
Key duties
- Produce feasibility, route, and site selection reports.
- Support the preparation of concept and detailed design deliverables, including drawings, calculations, and specifications.
- Help develop technical specifications and contract documentation for works and investigations.
- Assist with documents needed for statutory approvals, including planning permissions and wayleaves.
- Work with senior engineers and project managers during contract administration at construction stage.
- Gain exposure to project planning activities such as budgets, timelines, and resource allocation.
- Support delivery of projects within budget, on schedule, and aligned with relevant regulations and standards.
- Learn how to recognise and reduce project risks with guidance from senior colleagues.
- Carry out site visits and inspections to check progress and quality.
- Prepare and review technical reports, drawings, and specifications under supervision.
- Communicate effectively with team members, clients, and other stakeholders.
- Strengthen your understanding of wastewater engineering principles, regulations, and best practice.
- Take on other duties as needed to support the role and business requirements.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering, or a related subject, or you should be in the process of completing one.
- A genuine interest in wastewater engineering, along with a basic understanding of related principles and practices.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate well in a team and build positive working relationships.
- A careful, structured approach to problem-solving, with attention to detail, curiosity, and a willingness to learn through mentoring.
- Self-driven and reliable, able to work independently on assigned tasks while contributing positively to a supportive team.
- Experience with tools such as AutoCAD or Civil 3D would be helpful, though it is not essential.
