Job description

Job Summary

The GeM Operator will handle procurement work through the Government e-Marketplace portal. This position involves preparing bids, managing orders, liaising with vendors and buyers, and making sure every step follows government procurement rules. The role also requires maintaining proper records and documentation for all procurement activity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and manage bids, reverse auctions (RA), and direct purchase orders on the GeM platform.
  • Look up and shortlist suitable products and vendors based on the stated requirements.
  • Draft, upload, and maintain quotations, technical details, and supporting documents.
  • Track bid progress, order fulfilment, delivery timelines, and payment status.
  • Work closely with internal teams, government buyers, and suppliers to keep processes moving.
  • Follow GeM rules, government procurement procedures, and compliance requirements at all times.
  • Handle order concerns such as returns, cancellations, and customer or vendor grievances.
  • Keep procurement files, reports, and records accurate and up to date.
  • Stay informed about GeM portal updates, policy changes, and official circulars.

Required Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in any stream is required; commerce, business administration, or related areas are preferred.
  • 1 to 3 years of prior experience in GeM portal operations or government procurement is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of government purchasing procedures and the documentation involved.
  • Comfort with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and professional email communication.
  • Understanding of tendering, bidding, and reverse auction workflows will be an added advantage.
