About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Line Mechanic to join our Construction and Maintenance team. In this position, you will play a critical role in delivering reliable electrical service by constructing and maintaining overhead power lines and operating essential equipment rated up to 33kV.

Key Responsibilities

  • Construct and maintain overhead electrical lines ensuring compliance with customer, project, and network standards.
  • Develop and execute work plans for line construction, servicing, and upgrades.
  • Install and replace overhead conductors and pole structures as required.
  • Perform overhaul of non-load bearing pole hardware on electrical networks up to 110kV.
  • Operate ground-mounted and structure-mounted electrical equipment on lines up to 33kV.
  • Consistently maintain high standards of safety, efficiency, and professionalism across all tasks.

Required Qualifications

  • Current EWRB Line Mechanic registration.
  • Valid New Zealand Driver’s License.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

  • HT License (highly desirable).
  • Additional competencies related to the network or customer needs are advantageous.
  • Proven experience working on overhead electrical lines.
  • Strong safety focus with an excellent safety record.
  • Effective team player with a positive attitude and strong work ethic.
  • Good communication skills for working with colleagues and customers.
  • Experience in electrical construction and maintenance environments.
  • Familiarity with high-risk work settings and strict adherence to safety protocols.
