Overview
The role of Global Vice President of Strategic Business Development involves driving the company's international business growth strategy, forming high-level partnerships, expanding into new markets worldwide, and accelerating revenue streams. This senior leadership position is pivotal in identifying novel business avenues, establishing important strategic alliances, and ensuring sustainable growth at a global scale. The position requires close collaboration with the CEO, CSO, CCO, CRO, CMO, CFO, CPO, and other executive teams to implement initiatives that enhance competitive advantage worldwide.
Key Responsibilities
- Formulate and implement comprehensive global business development strategies aligned with the organization's vision and long-term goals.
- Identify new geographical markets, developing industries, key customer demographics, and growth opportunities to build a multi-year roadmap that drives sustained revenue and market share growth.
- Analyze worldwide industry trends, competitive landscapes, and emerging business frameworks.
- Establish and nurture executive-level relationships with strategic partners, investors, multinational corporations, government bodies, and relevant industry groups.
- Lead negotiations on strategic alliances, joint ventures, licensing, and commercial partnership agreements.
- Identify merger, acquisition, and investment prospects that align with long-term corporate objectives and oversee governance to maximize partnership value.
- Guide strategies for entering international markets, including localization and regional growth initiatives, while assessing regulatory, economic, and operational conditions.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams to facilitate global expansion efforts effectively.
- Collaborate with departments such as Sales, Marketing, Product, Customer Success, and Finance to boost revenues, improve customer acquisition and retention, and explore new commercial avenues.
- Lead competitive intelligence, market research, customer insights, and forecasting to inform strategic planning and monitor performance via executive dashboards.
- Work across Operations, Legal, Finance, Product, Technology, Marketing, HR, and regional management to ensure alignment on business development efforts.
- Drive organizational innovation and strategic execution, championing transformation programs to support scalable global growth.
- Oversee and mentor teams including Global Business Development Directors and Regional VPs, manage budgets, investments, consulting partnerships, and regularly present strategic outcomes to executives and the Board.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, International Business, Marketing, Economics, Finance, or related disciplines; an MBA or master’s degree is advantageous.
- Between 15 and 20 years of progressive leadership experience in business development, corporate strategy, international expansion, partnership management, or related fields.
- Demonstrated track record of successfully leading global business development initiatives and international market growth.
- Expertise in strategic planning, commercial negotiations, partnership governance, financial evaluation, and executive decision-making.
- Exceptional leadership, stakeholder engagement, negotiation, and communication skills.
