Global Operations APAC Finance Director

About the Role

Illumina is looking for a Global Operations APAC Finance Director to serve as a strategic finance partner to senior leaders. Based in Singapore, this role oversees financial performance across APAC Global Operations and selected G&A areas, helping shape business decisions that support profitable growth and long-term value creation.

The position plays a central role in planning, forecasting, reporting, costing, financial modeling, and business-system support across functions such as Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Life Cycle Management, Quality, Facilities, and Finance.

What You Will Do

• Work closely with APAC Global Operations and G&A leadership to support business outcomes and performance targets.
• Coordinate across teams to connect operational plans with financial objectives.
• Build and review analytics for project portfolio decisions, including ROI analysis and other finance metrics that support sound investment choices.
• Spot potential risks and opportunities, then partner with leaders on mitigation plans and value-creation actions.
• Lead and contribute to planning, budgeting, and forecasting for the scope of the role, ensuring alignment with company priorities and growth goals.
• Turn financial and business data into practical insights for decision-making.
• Prepare for and participate in financial and business review meetings for assigned areas.
• Support long-range planning, scenario analysis, and investment prioritization while maintaining accuracy and transparency.
• Handle complex operations finance topics such as standard costing, manufacturing capacity optimization, unfavorable variances, and related technical issues.
• Help define and implement the product standard costing roadmap to improve the precision of cost estimates.
• Work with cross-functional partners to manage cost of goods sold, operating expenses, headcount planning, and capital expenditure planning.
• Collaborate with Supply Chain and Manufacturing Operations teams to identify savings opportunities and improve margins.
• Improve finance processes, systems, and analytics capabilities through continuous improvement efforts.
• Maintain strong controls and policy compliance to protect company assets.
• Promote innovation by encouraging the use of AI and digital tools.
• Recruit, develop, and retain a strong finance team.

What We Are Looking For

• A bachelor’s and/or postgraduate degree in Business, Finance, or a related discipline.
• Professional certifications such as CPA, CFA, or CMA are preferred.
• More than 15 years of finance experience.
• Over 7 years of management experience.
• Strong knowledge of product costing and manufacturing finance.
• A highly analytical, metrics-focused approach to decision-making.
• Strong commercial judgment, financial acumen, and an entrepreneurial mindset.
• Good ability to assess risk.
• Excellent writing, speaking, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Strong organization, prioritization, and attention to detail.
• Proven ability to understand and solve complex problems.
• Experience coaching, leading, and developing high-performing teams.
