Role overview
A global agricultural commodities business is seeking a senior supply chain executive to lead its worldwide supply chain function from end to end. This position carries responsibility for setting direction and overseeing execution across a complex, multi-market operation.
The role centers on improving performance across procurement, logistics, freight, inventory, and supply planning, while strengthening risk management and working capital outcomes across different regions.
Role details
- Compensation: $160,000 to $190,000, depending on experience
- Employment type: Full-time, permanent
- Location: Etobicoke, Ontario, on-site
- Vacation: Paid time off
- Travel requirement: 20% to 30% international travel
Key responsibilities
- Direct global supply chain activity across procurement, logistics, transportation, warehousing, inventory, and distribution.
- Shape and oversee worldwide freight and logistics strategy, including carrier selection, contract discussions, route optimization, and expense management.
- Work closely with trading and commercial teams to ensure supply chain execution supports market conditions, trading positions, and customer obligations.
- Manage inventory planning and working capital performance while balancing service expectations, cost control, and operational risk.
- Define supply chain KPIs, monitor performance, and lead improvement efforts that increase efficiency, lower costs, and strengthen reliability.
- Create and sustain governance frameworks, controls, and standardized operating processes across the global supply chain.
- Manage supply chain risks tied to disruptions, capacity shortages, and geopolitical issues.
- Collaborate with finance, technology, and R&D teams on budgeting, forecasting, visibility into costs, and the adoption of digital tools, automation, and AI-enabled capabilities.
- Lead, mentor, and grow regional teams while helping scale operations across both new and existing markets.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, Economics, or a related discipline; an MBA or other advanced degree is viewed favorably.
- At least 15 years of progressive leadership experience in global supply chain roles, preferably within commodities, agriculture, or international trade.
- Background in managing complex, multi-region supply chains with substantial exposure to logistics, freight, and inventory.
- Strong business and commercial judgment, with the ability to balance cost, service, risk, and working capital requirements.
- Demonstrated success in leading senior teams across regions and functions in demanding environments.
- Solid knowledge of global logistics networks, freight markets, and international trade flows.
- Experience in agricultural commodities or global trading settings.
- Exposure to advanced analytics, AI-based forecasting, or supply chain automation initiatives.
- Confident executive communication skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders across functions and geographies.
- Hands-on leadership approach with a strong focus on continuous improvement.
