Job description

Role summary

As a Cargo Flow Officer, you will help improve vessel capacity usage by planning cargo movement efficiently, assigning space effectively, and coordinating equipment repositioning. In this position, you will report to the Cargo Flow Manager and partner with Trade, Operations, and Sales teams to align cargo demand with available network capacity, strengthen yield, and keep operating costs under control.

The role calls for solid analytical thinking, sound judgment, and the ability to stay effective in a fast-paced environment while working with multiple stakeholders across shipping and logistics.

Cargo flow planning and vessel utilization

  • Track vessel load performance by reviewing booking patterns and cargo forecasts.
  • Use planning measures that improve use of vessel space while limiting rollovers and overbookings.
  • Coordinate with Trade and Commercial teams so that allocations match market requirements.
  • Assess port and vessel operating results to identify areas for better efficiency.
  • Prepare cargo flow reports to guide daily operations and business decisions.

Space allocation and equipment management

  • Apply medium-range space planning across TEU, deadweight, and equipment size, and ensure allocation rules are followed.
  • Manage the movement of laden and empty containers in line with the Equipment Repositioning Plan.
  • Work with the Transshipment and Vessel Planning teams so cargo is connected correctly to its final destination.

Disruption response and cost control

  • Act quickly when disruptions occur, such as port omissions, void sailings, or cargo misconnections.
  • Create alternative recovery options and compare their cost and operational impact.
  • Help reduce vessel change costs, shutout losses, and storage-related expenses through careful planning.

Requirements

  • A diploma from a recognized institution is required, preferably in shipping or logistics.
  • At least 3 years of work experience in transportation or logistics is preferred.
  • Strong command of Excel, including VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, and Macros, is needed for analysis.
  • You should bring strong analytical ability, clear communication, and practical problem-solving skills.
  • The role also requires independence, the ability to manage several tasks at once, and comfort working under pressure.

Eligibility

This position is available only for local employment candidates.
