Job description

Role overview

La Glem Mineral Consultancy is recruiting a Geologist to strengthen its technical team in Kampala. The firm operates as an independent advisor in geology, mining, and mineral investment, supporting mining businesses, investors, banks and other financial institutions, mineral processors, and public-sector bodies across Uganda and the wider East African region.

The position is suited to a professional who is keen on mineral exploration, mining projects, and delivering dependable technical outputs. The selected candidate will contribute to fieldwork, project assessments, due diligence, and advisory assignments related to mineral assets and investment decisions.

Core duties

The role involves geological mapping, site-based investigations, and mineral prospecting work. You will also help plan and oversee exploration campaigns, including sampling, trenching, and drilling operations.

In addition, you will analyse geological, geochemical, and geophysical information; produce maps, cross-sections, and technical documentation; and contribute to mineral resource reviews and mining due diligence studies.

Further duties include inspecting mine sites, verifying project details, supporting licence reviews, checking regulatory compliance, and working with cross-functional teams on exploration, mining, and investment-related assignments.

Candidate profile

The ideal applicant holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Geology, Applied Geology, Earth Sciences, or a closely related discipline. A minimum of 3 years of professional experience in mineral exploration, mining geology, or geological consulting is required.

Experience involving gold, tin, coltan, rare earth elements, or industrial minerals will be an advantage. Strong working knowledge of GIS tools such as ArcGIS or QGIS, together with Microsoft Office, is expected.

Applicants should also have solid analytical ability, strong technical report-writing skills, and a readiness to travel frequently to project locations in Uganda and across the East African region.

What the employer offers

This opportunity offers exposure to a wide range of mining and advisory projects, engagement with international investors, and work within multidisciplinary consulting teams. The environment is designed to support professional development, ongoing learning, and collaboration.

Compensation will be competitive and aligned with the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience.

Application instructions

Applicants must prepare a cover letter, an updated CV, copies of academic and professional certificates, and contact information for at least two professional referees. The application should be submitted with the subject line “Application – Geologist”.

Shortlisted candidates only will be contacted.

Location and deadline

The role is based in Kampala, Uganda, with regular travel to field and project sites. The application deadline is 1st July 2026.
