Overview

The Department of Neurology at Oregon Health & Science University is seeking a part-time Genetic Counselor specializing in Neurology genetics. This position involves contributing to the university’s missions in teaching, research, patient care, outreach, and public service. The role focuses on expanding genetic counseling services in both clinical and research contexts within neurology.

Key Responsibilities

The genetic counselor will be part of a clinical genetics team, coordinating clinical care and research activities, which include patient intake, assessments, counseling sessions, coordination of genetic testing, and follow-up care. Participation in adult research projects and collaboration with the Huntington Disease predictive clinic and molecular genetics department is essential. Additionally, the counselor will educate medical trainees, genetic counseling students, and other healthcare professionals, and is encouraged to engage in research and scholarly publication.

Qualifications

Applicants must hold a Master's degree in Human Genetics or Genetic Counseling from an ABGC-accredited program and be either Board Certified or an Active Candidate through the American Board of Medical Genetics (ABMG) or American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC).
