Job description
Role overview
Calvary North Adelaide Hospital is seeking General Service Assistants in Housekeeping to become part of a welcoming hospitality services team. This position is available on a casual and part-time basis, with the opportunity for the role to develop into a permanent arrangement. The work is based at Calvary’s heritage site in South Australia.
The role suits someone who takes pride in maintaining high standards, brings a positive service mindset, and enjoys working in a healthcare environment focused on customer satisfaction.
Schedule and work pattern
This job requires flexibility across a 7-day rotating roster, with both morning and afternoon shifts. Early starts are essential, and some shifts may begin at 4:30 AM.
Initial onboarding and ongoing training will be provided. The position also includes substantial mandatory learning requirements delivered both online and in person.
Key duties
- Deliver cleaning services to a consistently high standard across the hospital.
- Carry out infection-related cleaning and theatre cleaning tasks.
- Support essential day-to-day operations within a metropolitan hospital setting.
- Follow infection control requirements and workplace health and safety policies and procedures at all times.
Candidate profile
We are looking for someone with the right to work in Australia, a current Working With Children Check, and the ability to work cooperatively in a team while also handling tasks independently.
Prior experience in aged care or a hospital environment would be an advantage, though it is not mandatory. Strong time management, clear communication, a customer-focused approach, attention to detail, and a flexible attitude are important for success in this role.
Applicants must be willing to work weekends as part of a 7-day roster and be available for early morning starts when needed.
Why join Calvary
Calvary offers a supportive, inclusive workplace backed by more than 130 years of experience and a workforce of 18,000 staff and volunteers. The organisation values the unique strengths, identity, and background each person brings to the team.
Benefits include salary packaging options for not-for-profit organisations, discounted health insurance, discounted gym memberships, paid parental leave, training and development pathways, career growth opportunities, and flexible working arrangements.
Important notices and conditions
Before employment begins, candidates will need to complete pre-employment screening. This may include reference checks, proof of work rights, criminal history screening, Working With Children Check verification, and a health assessment to confirm suitability for the position.
Successful applicants must also provide immunisation evidence relevant to the role, including influenza, tuberculosis screening, hepatitis, diphtheria, tetanus, and varicella.
