Job description
Position Overview
Amey is looking for a dedicated on-site General Operative/Handyperson to join the team at HMP Foston Hall. This role involves supporting the safe, clean, and efficient upkeep of prison facilities by conducting planned and reactive maintenance in compliance with health and safety standards.
Working Hours and Compensation
The standard working week consists of 39 hours distributed over seven days in a weekend shift rotation. Working days are Monday to Thursday from 8am to 5pm, with an earlier finish on the final shift of the week. Weekend shifts are required one in every four weeks on a rota basis and come with an additional 15% salary allowance. The annual salary for this role is £27,426.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate effectively within a dynamic team performing general maintenance duties and assist specialized tradespeople where necessary.
- Undertake varied facilities management tasks as assigned by the team manager.
- Ensure strict adherence to health and safety protocols throughout the contract period.
- Support local and organizational sustainability efforts, including initiatives aimed at reducing carbon footprints.
Candidate Profile
- Demonstrable background in DIY and general building maintenance tasks.
- Possession of valid CITB certification or an equivalent qualification.
- Eagerness to acquire new skills and adapt to evolving job requirements.
- Strong ability to work collaboratively within team environments.
