Role summary

This is a senior leadership opportunity for an international energy-focused business in the oil and gas sector. The organization develops engineered products, technologies, and integrated solutions for customers across global energy markets.

The position calls for more than commercial oversight. It needs an executive who can help define business direction, deepen strategic customer relationships, influence technology and investment choices, and build long-term value across a global portfolio.

Partnering with the executive leadership team, the selected leader will provide the direction and discipline needed to support durable growth, strong execution, and commercial excellence.

Role overview

The General Manager will lead an international business serving the global energy industry. Ownership includes business performance, market growth, customer engagement, portfolio development, and overall organizational leadership.

Success in this role will depend on improving customer trust, uncovering new growth opportunities, lifting business performance, and guiding diverse global teams in a fast-changing energy environment.

Location

The role is based in Singapore or Houston, Texas, USA.

Key accountabilities

  • Set the long-range direction of the business by reading market trends, customer needs, and competitive movement.
  • Convert corporate priorities into practical business plans that support profitable, sustainable growth.
  • Steer business priorities in a way that improves market position while preserving financial discipline.
  • Develop trusted relationships with senior leaders at international energy companies, EPC firms, industrial operators, and strategic partners.
  • Serve as the executive lead for important customer relationships and major commercial pursuits.
  • Represent the business in strategic negotiations, industry events, and senior customer discussions.
  • Identify expansion opportunities through new markets, partnerships, and value-focused commercial initiatives.
  • Shape investment priorities across the portfolio so solutions stay aligned with customer demands and changing industry needs.
  • Work with engineering, technology, operations, and commercial leaders to turn market insight into future business opportunities.
  • Encourage innovation that improves customer value and supports healthy commercial results.
  • Align commercial, engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and service teams to deliver steady business performance.
  • Drive operational excellence through disciplined execution, smart resource allocation, and continuous improvement.
  • Build a culture that balances customer focus with efficiency and financial performance.
  • Develop a globally connected leadership team that can operate effectively across different regions and cultures.
  • Promote collaboration, accountability, and innovation as core elements of success.
  • Coach senior leaders and strengthen the organization’s capability for future expansion.

Experience profile

  • Background leading organizations in oil and gas, energy technology, industrial equipment, process industries, industrial automation, power generation, or engineered manufacturing.
  • Experience managing international businesses with accountability for commercial outcomes and financial performance.
  • History of leading teams across multiple regions and cultural settings.
  • Strong business and commercial exposure across European markets is highly preferred.
  • Proven success in managing strategic customer relationships with complex, long sales cycles.
  • Solid exposure to technically advanced products, engineered systems, or industrial technologies.
  • Experience working across engineering, manufacturing, operations, supply chain, and commercial functions.
  • Demonstrated ability to guide businesses through market shifts while keeping a long-term strategic perspective.
