Overview
The General Manager will oversee all aspects of managing the Egyptian Theatre, a historic venue in Hollywood, Los Angeles. Responsibilities include operational management, marketing, staffing, financial oversight, event coordination, and preserving the theater’s legacy.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day theatre operations such as opening/closing procedures, cash management, and inventory control.
- Promote a culture of exceptional customer service by resolving guest issues related to service, screenings, or facility experience.
- Operate and administer all aspects of the POS system, proposing system enhancements with executive approval.
- Coordinate marketing materials under direction from client and corporate teams.
- Optimize floor operations through effective resource allocation and proactive problem-solving.
- Prepare and submit detailed operational reports punctually.
- Lead human resources efforts including recruitment, training, scheduling, coaching, disciplinary action, and performance evaluations.
- Manage costs by ordering products in line with demand and reducing spoilage.
- Maintain product quality and accurate inventory levels.
- Ensure high standards for on-screen presentations and safe, sanitary, compliant facility operations.
- Respond promptly to client and corporate communications and manage requests professionally.
- Oversee project delegation and follow through on completion ensuring corporate and client standards are met.
- Coordinate screenings, red carpet events, receptions including staffing, logistics, security, catering and compliance with city regulations.
- Handle event calendar management and ticketing system setup as needed.
- Maintain professionalism especially when interacting with VIP guests during events.
- Supervise all event staff roles ensuring smooth execution and quick resolution of any issues.
- Review and report event performance outcomes to the client and corporate office.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Minimum of 6 years’ experience in customer service and at least 5 years managing in a theatrical or event-related environment.
- Strong organizational, planning, and time management capabilities.
- Proficient with MS Office suite.
- Excellent communication skills paired with effective leadership and teamwork abilities.
- Must have reliable transportation and flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Capable of physically carrying up to 50 pounds and standing/walking for extended periods.
Compensation
The salary range for this position is $95,000 to $105,000 per year.
