Job description

About the Group

G’day Group is a major force in Australian regional travel, operating more than 85 properties across some of the country’s most remarkable destinations. The business connects people, places, and communities through a wide range of quality accommodation experiences.

About the Resort

Lake Argyle Resort is located in Western Australia’s East Kimberley region, positioned above Australia’s second-largest man-made freshwater lake. Guests come to experience the surrounding Bungle Bungle Ranges, Ord River Gorges, and the remote bays of the Lake Argyle Islands. The resort’s infinity pool is one of its signature features, known for its sweeping lake views. The successful candidate will help steward this iconic destination in a spectacular part of Australia.

The Opportunity

This leadership role places you at the centre of a one-of-a-kind resort environment. As General Manager, you will guide the property, shape memorable guest stays, and oversee delivery of an exceptional hospitality experience in a remote and highly scenic setting. The position combines operational leadership with hands-on involvement and a strong focus on adventure, relaxation, and premium service.

What’s on Offer

  • Onsite accommodation and meals are supplied at no cost.
  • The role offers a varied, active leadership environment where each day brings different challenges.
  • A competitive salary is complemented by performance-based bonuses.
  • Team members receive access to stays across more than 300 G’Day Group properties, along with partner discounts.
  • You will lead a committed team in an exceptional and memorable location.

Key Duties

  • Manage all resort operations, including tours, food and beverage, guest accommodation, and overall visitor experience.
  • Lead, coach, and support a high-performing team across departments.
  • Deliver outstanding guest service while maintaining careful cost control.
  • Drive business growth, oversee budgets, and support the resort’s long-term performance.
  • Build positive relationships with the local community and protect the resort’s reputation.
  • Stay hands-on and flexible in a remote operational environment when required.

Experience and Skills

The ideal candidate is an accomplished hospitality leader who performs well in remote, fast-moving settings. You should combine commercial awareness with strong people leadership and the ability to solve problems quickly while creating excellent guest experiences.

  • Demonstrated leadership background in resorts, remote operations, or multi-outlet hospitality venues.
  • Strong financial capability, including budgeting, P&L review, and planning.
  • Practical, hands-on working style with an understanding of the realities of remote tourism.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Relevant hospitality qualifications, including RSA and Food Safety certifications.

Additional Requirements

This is a remote live-in position at Lake Argyle, so applicants should be comfortable with extended time away in a remote location. The role also involves significant manual handling, including lifting up to 20 kg, kneeling, squatting, handling chemicals, and using machinery. Before any offer is made, candidates must authorise a Federal Police Clearance so any criminal offences or charges can be disclosed.

About the Employer

G’day Group has an evolving ESG strategy focused on safety, respect, inclusion, community contribution, and environmental protection. The organisation is working to strengthen sustainability considerations across daily operations and decision-making.
