About the Role
A prominent global consumer products corporation is recruiting a seasoned General Manager to oversee a major North American consumer wellness division. This leadership role involves comprehensive P&L accountability for a portfolio of leading health and wellness brands. The successful candidate will spearhead initiatives to accelerate profitable growth, enhance brand equity, foster innovation, and deliver excellence in commercial performance.
This high-visibility executive position demands a strategic and commercially savvy leader who can motivate high-achieving teams, collaborate effectively within a global matrix environment, and convert long-term strategies into tangible business outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement the overall business strategy for a sizeable consumer wellness portfolio.
- Manage full P&L responsibilities exceeding $550 million, including driving revenue growth, boosting profitability, expanding market share, and optimizing operational efficiency.
- Formulate and execute annual business plans balancing sustained growth with strict financial discipline.
- Strategically allocate resources across marketing, commercial functions, innovation, and customer investments for maximum returns.
- Set performance benchmarks and ensure accountability across all business units.
- Craft and execute growth strategies based on consumer insights and market trends, identifying innovative opportunities and managing risks.
- Lead commercialization efforts for new products and portfolio upgrades to drive business expansion.
- Collaborate closely with commercial, marketing, product, and innovation leaders to achieve superior marketplace execution.
- Develop pricing, promotions, channel, and customer strategies that enhance profitable growth.
- Strengthen relationships with key retail and omnichannel partners to increase market penetration.
- Cultivate a data-driven decision culture promoting continuous performance enhancement.
- Lead and nurture a high-performing, cross-functional leadership team within a complex matrix structure.
- Promote alignment across various stakeholders and lead through influence in absence of direct authority.
- Foster an organizational culture emphasizing accountability, collaboration, agility, and continuous improvement.
- Recruit, mentor, and develop talent to build organizational capabilities.
- Maintain deep understanding of consumer behaviors, competitive landscape, and category trends ensuring insights drive strategy, innovation, and commercial plans.
- Represent North American market interests and collaborate with global leadership to influence broader business strategy.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree mandatory; MBA or advanced business degree preferred.
- Extensive progressive leadership experience in consumer-focused enterprises.
- Proven record managing businesses with significant P&L responsibility.
- Demonstrated capability to drive profitable revenue growth, increase market share, and develop brands.
- Track record in translating strategic plans into measurable outcomes across pricing, product, marketing, sales, and channel management.
- Experience leading cross-functional teams within matrixed organizations.
- Success in building high-performing teams and leading organizational change.
- Background in consumer products, health & wellness, medical devices, personal care, or related sectors.
Preferred:
- Experience overseeing multiple brands or business units.
- Expertise in driving innovation, portfolio growth, or new product commercialization.
- Familiarity with omnichannel, e-commerce, and major retail landscapes.
- Knowledge of regulated consumer products or comparable industries.
- International business exposure and comfort working in global organizations.
- Entrepreneurial mindset suited to dynamic, fast-paced environments.
Additional Information
The role requires presence in the Boston area office three days per week. A stipend is provided to cover travel and commuting expenses. The position entails some domestic and international travel.
