Job description

Role overview

The General Manager will help the clinical services management team provide leadership across delegated duties and service areas, supporting the ongoing development of directorate services. The role is focused on delivering high-quality patient care while working within the resources available and aligning activity with the Trust’s strategic direction.

This position also plays a key part in building a culture of strong performance, accountability, ownership, safety and service excellence, with patient outcomes and experience meeting national, local and Trust-level standards.

The postholder will work alongside management colleagues to provide professional leadership to one or more directorates, helping shape and deliver both strategic and operational plans that fit the wider clinical service strategy.

Informal visits are welcomed before interview.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with managers and lead clinicians to support efficient, effective service delivery across the Directorate and help meet access targets within available resources.
  • Make sure Directorate services achieve their agreed objectives and maintain the required quality standards.
  • Provide updates on progress and outcomes against goals to the Clinical Service Management Team.
  • Attend Clinical Service meetings and other relevant forums on behalf of the Directorate or its services when delegated by senior management.
  • Help maintain and apply clinical governance processes.
  • Support planning for capacity and financial resources.
  • Hold responsibility for delegated budgets in assigned areas.
  • Contribute to business case development for service improvement, helping secure funding for the clinical service’s strategic priorities and enhanced patient care.
  • Review, interpret and analyse information and data, then recommend and support implementation of service redesign and change across the Clinical Service.

Additional information

The service supports the Making Every Contact Count approach, encouraging behaviour change that promotes the health and wellbeing of individuals and communities.
