Role Summary
The General Maintenance Technician will join the team in Addis Ababa on a full-time, on-site basis, responsible for routine and corrective maintenance of the airline’s facilities, ensuring operational safety and reliability. The technician’s main duties involve inspecting equipment, diagnosing faults, performing mechanical and electrical repairs, and maintaining detailed service records. They will execute scheduled preventive maintenance, swiftly address urgent repair requests, and coordinate with operations and engineering teams to reduce equipment downtime.
Responsibilities
- Inspect and assess facility equipments and systems regularly to identify maintenance needs.
- Perform mechanical and electrical repairs promptly to maintain operational efficiency.
- Document all maintenance activities in accordance with company standards.
- Carry out planned preventive maintenance to uphold equipment reliability and safety.
- Respond efficiently to urgent maintenance requests to minimize disruption.
- Collaborate with operations and engineering departments to ensure maintenance work aligns with operational goals.
- Adhere strictly to safety guidelines using proper tools and testing equipment.
- Contribute to the refinement and enhancement of maintenance processes.
Qualifications and Skills
- Technical diploma or certificate in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance, or equivalent hands-on experience.
- Proven skills in equipment maintenance and repair, including troubleshooting in industrial environments.
- Experience in implementing preventive maintenance programs to enhance equipment safety and reliability.
- Ability to interpret technical manuals, diagrams, and maintenance documentation accurately.
- Familiarity with safety standards and proficiency in using relevant tools and test instruments.
- Strong communication skills with the capability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
- Flexibility to work different shifts, including weekends and holidays, based on operational requirements.
- Prior experience in aviation, transportation, or large industrial facility maintenance is advantageous.
