About the Role
This position reports directly to the Material Handling Supervisor and involves general labor responsibilities focused on maintaining the external areas of the plant site. Duties include cleanup, landscaping tasks, snow removal, painting, general housekeeping, deliveries, and conducting minor upkeep activities. The ideal candidate exhibits a strong work ethic, self-motivation, takes pride in their output, and contributes positively to team success.
Work Schedule and Compensation
The standard work hours run Monday through Friday from 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM. Starting pay is $25 per hour with the possibility of increases depending on experience, qualifications, and skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out various physical labor tasks as assigned.
- Ensure adherence to all safety protocols, policies, and standards.
- Follow applicable Safe Work Instructions and Standard Operating Procedures consistently.
- Undertake specialized tasks through on-the-job training.
- Safely operate mobile equipment such as riding mowers, forklifts, skid steers, aerial work platforms, among others.
- Maintain plant grounds and perimeter, including lawn mowing, snow clearing, and seasonal cleanup duties.
- Preserve the condition of plant buildings, equipment, and structures by pressure washing and painting.
- Assist maintenance and operations teams with manual tasks, including fire watch and confined space monitoring.
- Perform minor maintenance activities utilizing hand and power tools.
- Operate plant vehicles for deliveries and supply runs.
- Execute other labor duties as required.
- Submit accurate written reports on injuries, fire incidents, or spills.
- Maintain personal hygiene, professional appearance, and the condition of company-issued work apparel.
- Take pride in the quality of work produced and uphold high facility standards.
Candidate Requirements
- Completion of Grade 12 education.
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
- A positive outlook, proactive work habits, and pride in task completion.
- Competent computer and keyboard abilities.
- Capability to lift consistently up to 22.7 kg (50 lbs).
- Comfort with working at heights and within confined spaces.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
