Role Overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic and versatile Livestock Assistant to contribute to our evolving livestock operations. Initially, the role will focus on managing the phased discontinuation of our sheep operation, gradually shifting towards supporting our cattle business, Lincs Cattle.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily care and welfare of the sheep flock during the wind-down phase.
- Assist with handling, moving, and administering health treatments to sheep.
- Maintain strict animal welfare and biosecurity protocols during the transition.
- Collaborate with the team to ensure a smooth and effective exit from sheep farming.
- Progress into cattle husbandry, including feeding, health monitoring, and general care.
- Acquire and apply knowledge of cattle management, welfare standards, and performance tracking.
- Contribute to the growth and success of the cattle enterprise.
- Operate farm machinery and equipment safely, with training provided as needed.
- Keep detailed records of livestock and farm activities.
- Adhere to all health and safety standards consistently.
- Work cooperatively within the broader farm team and support additional farm tasks as required.
Candidate Profile
- Experience in practical livestock care, preferably with sheep, cattle, or mixed farming.
- Adaptable and able to handle changing priorities in a dynamic environment.
- Positive outlook towards learning and acquiring new husbandry techniques.
- Strong work ethic with a readiness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Good understanding of animal welfare principles.
- Able to work independently and within a team setting.
