Job description

Role overview

We are looking for a highly capable and proactive General Counsel to build and lead the internal legal function across three major areas: a top-tier direct-to-consumer e-commerce brand, a family office investing in hedge funds, and cross-border legal structuring across several international jurisdictions. The role reports directly to the CEO and involves managing external legal advisors while taking ownership of key legal matters spanning consumer protection, FTC-related compliance, fund subscriptions, custody arrangements, and international asset structuring. This is a senior ownership role, not a support-only position.

Working style and pace

The role is designed for someone who wants accelerated growth through broad exposure. In the first 90 days, the expectation is to independently surface at least five significant legal risks within the assigned areas. You will provide monthly legal exposure reviews to the CEO, carry out quarterly compliance checks across consumer-facing touchpoints, and review fund documentation on a quarterly basis while helping negotiate LP terms. The environment rewards people who learn quickly, act independently, and thrive in a high-output setting.

Key responsibilities

You will be expected to create and manage legal structure across multiple business lines rather than simply processing requests. The position combines regulatory oversight, transactional support, and cross-border coordination, with a strong focus on identifying issues early and building repeatable legal processes.

Requirements

The ideal candidate holds a JD from an accredited law school and is admitted to practice in at least one U.S. jurisdiction. You should bring 5 to 10 years of legal experience, ideally with a combination of law firm and in-house work. Strong autonomy, practical judgment, and the ability to coordinate several outside counsel relationships at once are essential. The role also requires comfort working across international jurisdictions and using AI tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, or comparable platforms for legal research, drafting, and risk spotting; this capability will be assessed during interviews. Candidates should have a clear track record of proactively finding issues that were not specifically assigned.

Preferred background

Helpful experience includes corporate or commercial law work at a mid-market or BigLaw firm before moving in-house, exposure to fund finance or LP documentation, familiarity with NAV-based lending, consumer protection and FTC-related matters, support for corporate transactions or due diligence, and prior work with high-net-worth or family office clients.

Company culture

The organization describes itself as fast-moving, ambitious, and highly accountable. Team members are expected to act like owners, make decisions quickly, aim for excellence, use AI as part of everyday work, and commit fully when the mission requires it. The team also emphasizes international collaboration and a high-performance environment.

Compensation and benefits

The base compensation is up to USD 220,000 per year, plus a monthly performance bonus of up to 10%. The total annual package can reach up to USD 246,800, and the role includes comprehensive benefits.

  • Health coverage: medical, dental, and vision insurance, depending on the country of hire
  • Paid time off plus public holidays, depending on the country of hire
  • Access to an AI-first tool stack and a remote-first working setup
  • Learning and development opportunities
  • Collaboration with an international team representing 14+ nationalities
  • Eligibility for the Leaders Club recognition program, which includes premium wellness memberships, networking with senior leadership, and annual leadership retreats
  • Eligibility for monthly recognition as a “We Are” Champion of the Month, with gift vouchers and company-wide recognition

Location and working arrangement

This is a remote role available globally, but the successful candidate must be able to overlap significantly with EMEA time zones, including Middle East and Europe working hours.

Additional note

The opportunity is aimed at candidates who want broad legal ownership, rapid growth, and direct influence on business decisions in a high-expectation environment.
