Job Overview

The General Cashier role is crucial for ensuring the efficient management of cash-related operations within the Accounting Department.

Key Responsibilities

• Verify all daily recorded payments accurately.
• Make deposits and maintain sufficient cash floats and small change for all Office Clerks-Cashiers.
• Collect and verify remittance envelopes from Front Office against daily witness sheets, with an assigned witness.
• Count cash, checks, and credit card vouchers alongside a witness and cross-check against computerized remittance reports.
• Provide required cash change to Front Office, planning for peak periods such as busy weekends and holidays.
• Reimburse Front Office for approved disbursements (due backs).
• Obtain approval from the Director of Finance before updating foreign exchange rates based on daily bank information.
• Issue petty cash and IOUs approved by the Director of Finance.
• Track and ensure timely clearance of all IOU requests.
• Maintain confidentiality of the General Cashier safe combination exclusively.
• Authorize encashment of employee checks and cash advances only with approvals from both the General Manager and Director of Finance.
• Reconcile and balance house bank daily.
• Maintain custody and manage unclaimed wages appropriately.
• Assist with surprise cash counts when required.
