Role Overview
The General Cashier Cum Paymaster will oversee the hotel’s payroll operations and manage all cash-related activities across departments. This position is crucial for ensuring accurate payroll processing, secure cash handling, adherence to financial policies, and smooth day-to-day financial transactions.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage and process monthly payroll activities for all hotel staff, ensuring accuracy in salary payments, overtime, bonuses, and applicable deductions.
- Maintain comprehensive payroll records and employee financial data, coordinating with People & Culture on attendance, leave management, and settlements.
- Adhere to labor laws and internal policies to ensure full compliance in payroll management.
- Handle daily cash collections from various hotel outlets, verifying and documenting amounts received.
- Organize daily bank deposits, ensuring timely and accurate submission.
- Maintain control over the general cashier float and petty cash funds, reconciling cash receipts with Front Office and Food & Beverage reports.
- Identify and investigate any discrepancies in cash handling and report findings appropriately.
- Implement and enforce stringent internal controls related to cash and financial document security.
- Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and assistance.
- Compile daily cash reports and financial summaries; assist the Chief Accountant with broader financial reporting as needed.
Required Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of three years’ experience in a similar finance/payroll role within the hospitality sector.
- Proficiency with payroll software and cash handling processes.
- Familiarity with hotel management systems such as Opera, Sun System, Micros, and optionally Paytrax.
