About the role
For the grounds of the Evangelical Diaconal Hospital in Leipzig, part of the AGAPLESION Mitteldeutschland network, a full-time gardener with a focus on landscape and grounds maintenance is sought to start on 01.01.2027. The position is based outdoors and centers on creating and maintaining attractive, functional green spaces.
Profile
- You should have completed vocational training in gardening and landscaping or hold an equivalent qualification.
- Practical knowledge of plants and hands-on experience in maintaining green areas are important, including tasks such as lawn care, tree pruning, and border or bed maintenance.
- You should also be familiar with operating gardening machinery and equipment, for example lawn mowers, hedge trimmers, and snow blowers.
- Previous experience in nursery work and landscape upkeep is expected.
- Knowledge of winter service is an advantage, especially in relation to spreading grit, clearing snow, and observing safety requirements.
- A driving licence class B is required, and class BE may also be needed depending on the assignment.
- Basic understanding of occupational health and safety is required.
Responsibilities
- Design outdoor areas and carry out their ongoing care.
- Maintain lawns, flowerbeds, shrub beds, and other green spaces in full scope.
- Perform mowing, planting, watering, pruning, and general cutting work.
- Carry out cleaning duties and sweeping work on paths and traffic areas.
- Handle winter operations, including snow clearance and gritting.
- Oversee outdoor areas during the winter months and help maintain traffic safety on the premises.
- Take part in on-call duty when winter weather conditions require it.
