Job description
Role Overview
As a Game Technical Artist at Garena in Singapore, you will be responsible for creating and implementing game-ready art assets spanning characters, environments, props, and user interfaces. You will integrate these assets into the game engine, ensuring materials, shaders, animations, and prefabs are functioning correctly. The position requires supporting rapid prototyping by maintaining streamlined and efficient art workflows and tools while collaborating with programmers and designers to ensure visuals align with gameplay and enhance player clarity.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce and implement assets optimized for game engines, including character models, environments, props, and UI elements.
- Integrate art assets with materials, shaders, animations, and prefabs within the game engine.
- Facilitate rapid prototyping using simple and effective art workflows and tooling.
- Work closely with development teams to solve visual and gameplay-related challenges.
- Optimize assets for performance and troubleshoot visual or performance issues during various builds and playtests.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline is preferred but not mandatory.
- Strong experience using modern game engines such as Unity or Unreal, particularly asset implementation.
- Sound understanding of 3D art foundations including modeling, texturing, and materials with awareness of game-ready asset limitations.
- Basic proficiency in technical aspects such as shaders, lighting, material setups, and animation integration.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with programmers and designers to address both visual and technical constraints.
- Knowledge of game performance considerations like draw calls, texture management, and asset optimization.
- Commercial game development experience or a portfolio demonstrating personal game projects is advantageous.
