Role Overview
As a Furniture Procurement Specialist at Orior Furniture based in Dundalk, County Louth, you will be responsible for managing the end-to-end procurement process for furniture projects. This includes vendor qualification, price negotiations, production coordination, and shipping logistics to ensure timely delivery and quality compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess and qualify new suppliers by evaluating their manufacturing capacity, financial health, and quality of past projects.
- Oversee production schedules and workflow to optimize resource utilization.
- Prepare and issue Requests for Quotation (RFQs) and manage tender processes to secure competitive market prices for clients.
- Develop and maintain strong, ongoing partnerships with factories to obtain preferential production slots and favorable pricing.
- Coordinate production of control samples to verify compliance with brand quality and finish standards.
- Collaborate with the installation team to guarantee correct placement of furniture based on layout plans.
- Manage both international shipping logistics and local last-mile delivery to consolidation warehouses or project sites.
- Conduct market research domestically and internationally by attending trade shows and visiting manufacturing facilities to discover new design trends, innovative materials, and high-capacity suppliers.
- Ensure thorough documentation of all procurement activities including RFQs, tender comparisons, purchase orders, and approvals.
- Maintain precise procurement tracking systems monitoring costs, statuses, delivery timelines, and installation sequencing.
- Ensure procurement processes comply with internal approvals and client reporting requirements.
Qualifications & Skills
- Previous experience in FF&E procurement, manufacturing, or production environments, ideally in a purchasing capacity.
- Comprehensive understanding of production workflows, equipment usage, and health & safety regulations.
- Strong analytical skills with excellent problem-solving and sound decision-making capabilities.
- Highly organized, capable of working efficiently in dynamic and fast-paced settings.
- Skilled computer user with intermediate proficiency in Excel.
- Strong communication skills and meticulous attention to detail.
