Fundraising Specialist

About the Role

Deaf Aotearoa is experiencing a phase of significant growth and is looking to hire a Fundraising Specialist to expand its fundraising efforts nationwide. The role involves direct engagement with supporters to foster their connection and contributions to the Deaf community. This is a full-time permanent position based preferably in Auckland, though Wellington, Christchurch, or remote locations will be considered.

The successful candidate will be hands-on, proactive, and motivated by building and strengthening relationships. They will manage various fundraising initiatives such as events, DIY fundraising projects, school and workplace campaigns, and individual giving programs. The role requires ownership from initial planning through to execution, ensuring a seamless and rewarding experience for supporters. Independent decision-making and accountability for assigned areas are vital, alongside teamwork and collaboration when needed.

Responsibilities

• Lead community and peer-to-peer fundraising activities, including major events like Round the Bays.
• Support DIY fundraisers, schools, workplaces, and community groups in their fundraising efforts.
• Oversee the community components of internal campaigns and national appeals.
• Provide outstanding care and communication with supporters along with timely follow-ups.
• Manage online fundraising platforms and analyze data to enhance fundraising outcomes.

Candidate Profile

• Experience in fundraising, event management, or supporter engagement, or equivalent transferable skills.
• Strong communication abilities across multiple platforms such as phone, email, video calls, and face-to-face interactions.
• Highly organized, meticulous, with effective time management and the capacity to balance multiple priorities.
• Familiarity with CRM systems and peer-to-peer fundraising software such as Funraisin, Grassrootz, or Raisely is preferred; enthusiasm to learn is essential.
• Understanding of inclusive communication practices and an appreciation for diverse communities.
• Knowledge of New Zealand Sign Language (NZSL) and Deaf culture is advantageous, or a willingness to acquire this knowledge.
