The stores actively support local shelters and charities through adoption events, food banks, donation initiatives, and fundraising endeavors.
Role Summary
The Keyholder role is crucial for maintaining excellent operations and customer experience by managing day-to-day store activities. This position involves recommending products and services to enhance pet health and playfulness, sharing responsibility for driving store profitability, and representing the store within the community while upholding core values of Safety, Compassion, Expertise, and Efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Handling cashier duties and assisting customers with sales
- Preparing merchandise orders, completing banking, and managing paperwork
- Stocking smaller merchandise items (under 10 lbs) within the sales floor
- Performing general maintenance tasks like sweeping and dusting
- Assisting in unloading delivery shipments including heavier pet food supplies (up to 50 lbs) and stocking inventory
- Opening and closing the store in compliance with company policies
- Delegating daily tasks and setting goals for associates when management is absent
- Completing additional duties as assigned
Qualifications and Skills
- Minimum of two years experience in retail or customer service environments
- Previous experience working with animals is preferred
- Competent use of Point of Sale (POS) systems
- Strong interpersonal skills with a friendly and outgoing demeanor
- Physical ability to repeatedly lift items up to 50 lbs
- Availability to work varied schedules including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Reliable transportation and potentially a valid driver’s license required
