Job Overview
The Delivery Specialist is tasked with delivering purchased goods to customers in their assigned area, ensuring adherence to delivery schedules and quality standards. This role entails creating exceptional customer experiences by building trust, offering knowledgeable advice, ensuring safe delivery, handling problems, and managing product returns.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain consistent and dependable attendance.
- Complete timely deliveries, meeting or surpassing scheduled times.
- Operate and upkeep a clean, well-organized delivery vehicle and equipment, including trailers as needed.
- Carefully load, unload, and arrange products safely and efficiently.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to confirm safety and readiness.
- Accurately document deliveries and report any issues encountered.
- Communicate with customers to provide delivery updates and address concerns.
- Deliver excellent customer service, fostering positive and friendly interactions.
- Collaborate with field sales and store teams to meet customer demands.
- Handle merchandise with care to prevent damage during transport.
- Adhere to traffic laws and company policies to drive safely.
- Manage returns, exchanges, and customer inquiries as necessary.
Candidate Qualifications
- Preferred but not mandatory: prior truck delivery experience.
- Experience operating material handling tools like hand trucks, dollies, pallet jacks, and forklifts is advantageous.
- Minimum age of 21 years with at least 3 years driving experience and passing MVR check.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Required DOT medical card certification.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean record.
- Physical and mental capability to move quickly and safely in-store and outdoors.
- Able to push or pull heavy merchandise (up to 2,000 pounds) with proper equipment.
- Skill in safely loading and unloading delivery trucks.
- Proficiency in operating delivery-related equipment correctly and safely.
- Ability to lift and move heavy and bulky items.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Outlook and calendar management.
- Strong time management skills to meet tight deadlines.
- Excellent customer service ability with professionalism and friendliness.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills for interacting with team members and customers.
- Ability to read, write, and count accurately for documentation purposes.
- Competence in navigation using GPS and maps.
- Willingness to complete all required training.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
- Regular proximity to mechanical equipment.
- Delivery driving under all weather and road conditions.
- Moderate noise environment.
- Physical requirements include sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, stooping, bending, reaching overhead, and lifting over 50 pounds.
