Job Overview

The Dispatcher role involves directing and supervising patient transportation activities, ensuring timely and precise dispatching in response to transportation requests. This position is based in Gretna, LA at Ochsner Westbank Hospital and requires previous dispatcher experience. The schedule is full-time with mid-shift availability, and specific hours may vary.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver exceptional customer service with focused, personalized attention.
• Apply knowledge of patient transport principles, infection control, and safe body mechanics.
• Establish and communicate dispatcher logic and manage transporter operations, including direct patient transport when needed.
• Oversee transport functions ensuring tasks are completed promptly and according to protocol.
• Validate that transportation requests are handled efficiently per departmental standards and patient schedules.
• Serve as a liaison between the Patient Transportation department and other hospital units.
• Manage pager distribution and collection, and monitor daily sign-in/out records.
• Cultivate positive relationships with patients, visitors, and staff while maximizing dispatcher and staff productivity.
• Address and resolve complaints from patients, visitors, or employees; suggest remedies for recurring issues.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Must have prior experience working as a dispatcher.

Compensation and Benefits

• Hourly wage set at $15.00 per hour.
