Role overview
An opportunity is available with Arriva for a Cleaner Fueller Shunter to support day-to-day depot and vehicle preparation activities. The position is based in Telford, England, United Kingdom and focuses on keeping buses clean, fuelled, and ready for service.
Compensation and working pattern
- Pay is £12.98 per hour.
- Shift hours are 16:00 to 23:00.
- This is a full-time role of 38 hours each week.
- Overtime may be available.
- Annual leave includes 20 days plus 8 bank holidays.
Key duties
- Keep workshop and depot areas clean, orderly, and well organised.
- Clean vehicles to the company standard and maintain accurate records.
- Refuel the fleet so vehicles are ready for the next day’s operation.
- Make sure the fuelling area is safe, tidy, and free from hazards before work begins.
- Complete daily sweeping and mopping, along with occasional deep interior cleaning.
- Follow all company procedures, operational rules, and health and safety requirements.
Training and progression
Applicants without a PCV licence can still be considered, as the company can provide a local B shunt licence that allows buses to be driven on-site. The role also offers strong career development and upskilling opportunities.
Requirements
- Prior experience in a similar role is helpful, but not essential because full training will be provided.
- Clear communication skills are needed.
- You should work well as part of a team.
- A full UK manual driving licence is required, with 6 points or fewer.
- You must be able to pass a pre-employment medical assessment for PCV fitness.
