About the Role

Bezirkskliniken Schwaben offers an opportunity to engage in a voluntary social year (Freiwilliges Soziales Jahr - FSJ) in Memmingen. As an FSJ participant, you will assist the team in caring for and supporting patients, while also organizing their leisure and recreational activities like reading, playing, or accompanying them on walks.

Your duties include measuring vital signs and monitoring hydration logs. You will provide support to elderly or dependent patients by assisting in tasks such as changing bed linens and providing fresh drinks, as well as performing rounds. Additionally, you will accompany patients to therapies and medical examinations both within and outside the clinic.

This role gives you the chance to gain insight into various departments such as medical, nursing, psychological, social-educational services, and therapeutic professions.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Commitment to a voluntary service period of one year, with the possibility of shorter or longer durations upon agreement.
• Completion of compulsory full-time schooling.
• Motivation to work in a new social and practical work environment supporting others.
• Enthusiasm for engaging with individuals affected by mental health conditions.
• Strong sense of responsibility, reliability, teamwork skills, and psychological resilience.
• Empathy and openness combined with sensitivity in dealing with people with psychological illnesses.
• Valid driver's license is advantageous as accommodation is not provided.
