Job description

Role overview

This freelance remote opportunity supports faster enrollment of patients into clinical trials. The work helps biopharmaceutical companies and CROs complete studies more efficiently so that new treatments can reach patients sooner.

The position is centered on handling unscripted patient conversations related to oncology trials. It is suited to medical professionals who combine strong communication skills with experience in oncology, clinical research, or patient education.

In this role, you act as a bridge between cancer patients, their treating doctors, and research sites. Your focus is to help patients understand their options, feel supported during the process, and connect with the right study teams where appropriate. You will not determine medical eligibility or provide clinical advice.

Key duties

  • Speak with cancer patients in an empathetic, unscripted way about possible clinical trial options.
  • Explain the aim, steps, and possible risks of clinical trials in clear, patient-friendly language.
  • Share relevant studies based on broad criteria such as cancer type, treatment stage, and location.
  • Encourage patients to have informed discussions with their treating physicians.
  • Arrange first contact between physicians and research sites when a study appears suitable.
  • Keep communication ethical, patient-centered, and respectful of autonomy at all times.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and protect confidentiality in every patient interaction.

Requirements

  • Medical degree (MD or equivalent) is mandatory.
  • At least 3 years of experience in oncology, clinical trials, or patient education is required.
  • Background in oncology studies or patient recruitment is considered a strong advantage.
  • Understanding of clinical trial processes, patient navigation, or healthcare communication is expected.
  • Fluent German is required.
  • Professional-level English is required.
  • Professional Spanish would be a plus.
  • This role is fully remote and can be performed from anywhere.
  • You should be comfortable discussing sensitive topics with empathy and professionalism.
  • Strong coordination and organizational abilities are important.
  • You must be able to explain medical concepts clearly without offering medical advice.
  • A strong respect for ethics and patient decision-making is essential.

Benefits

  • Remote freelance engagement.
  • Competitive compensation based on the project.
  • Purpose-driven work supporting cancer patients and clinical research.
  • Exposure to innovative oncology clinical trials.

Additional information

Applicants should submit a CV together with a short summary of relevant experience in oncology, clinical trials, or patient engagement. Qualified candidates will be contacted to discuss the project scope, expected availability, and the next steps. The organization welcomes professionals from diverse backgrounds and is committed to an inclusive and respectful work environment.

This role is described as a freelance project-based opportunity with remote working arrangements and no fixed salary provided.
