Job description

Role overview

TP is hiring a Fraud Monitoring Senior Analyst in Qatar to support a bank’s 24/7 fraud operations. This position is centered on live fraud surveillance, case review, investigation support, and rapid escalation while also helping the team stay aligned with QCB Anti-Fraud Communication Mechanism (AFCM) requirements. The role acts as the key operational escalation contact during assigned shifts.

Core responsibilities

  • Keep watch over fraud alerts around the clock, including nights, weekends, public holidays, and other off-hours, using system-generated alerts and inputs from other channels such as call centers and other institutions under AFCM.
  • Sort, assess, and rank alerts based on approved risk thresholds and escalation rules.
  • Examine suspicious activity across digital banking, payment rails, wallets, PSP-linked activity, and branch-originated alerts.
  • Work on high-risk fraud alerts by taking prompt action and escalating as needed.
  • Reach out to customers when required to confirm transactions, validate activity, and collect relevant details through approved communication scripts.
  • Take preventive steps within the limits of the role, such as flagging activity, applying temporary restrictions, or escalating cases.
  • Escalate confirmed, complex, or high-risk matters immediately to permanent staff according to escalation matrices, shift coverage arrangements, and AFCM timelines.
  • Record all actions, findings, and communications accurately in case management tools and registers.
  • Serve as the main operational point of contact for fraud reports received outside normal business hours.
  • Handle fraud-related communication from customers, financial institutions, and payment providers in line with approved procedures.
  • Provide calm, professional, and reassuring communication to affected customers during suspected fraud situations.
  • Support interbank fraud handling by logging recall requests, gathering evidence, and escalating urgent matters to permanent staff.
  • Protect confidentiality and personal data in all communications with customers and external parties.
  • Carry out protection actions such as customer contact, transaction checks, account safeguarding, and incident updates in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate with banks, PSPs, and other institutions under AFCM processes to aid recovery and interbank fraud response.
  • Work in line with service-level commitments with internal teams to improve turnaround times.
  • Respond to Ministry of Interior and law-enforcement queries or requests received outside working hours using approved templates and escalation paths.
  • Stay within defined authority levels at all times.
  • Follow approved fraud response procedures, escalation playbooks, and AFCM communication templates.
  • Keep accurate logs of alerts, registers, customer contacts, escalations, actions taken, and pending items.
  • Support permanent staff by preparing complete case details for timely decisions.
  • Take part in shift handovers to ensure continuity of ownership and awareness of active cases.
  • Follow internal controls, data protection rules, and information security requirements.
  • Ensure fraud incidents detected through EFMS or operational channels are logged, assessed, escalated, and tracked through closure.
  • Analyze alert-parameter performance and recommend rule changes or enhancements when fraud patterns shift or new suspicious behavior appears.
  • Route suspicious internal fraud incidents to the fraud investigations team for further review.
  • Contribute to studies, manuals, and updates related to new regulations and international standards.
  • Maintain an updated record of suspected risk events, their status, impact, and actions taken.
  • Keep knowledge current on fraud patterns, social engineering tactics, digital fraud, and payment fraud trends.
  • Join training on fraud monitoring, customer engagement, escalation handling, and system usage.
  • Be ready to work effectively in a 24/7 rota, including nights, weekends, and public holidays.
  • Share feedback on emerging fraud trends and operational issues to help improve processes.
  • Support ongoing improvement of fraud detection and response capabilities.
  • Stay current with developments in the professional field.
  • Comply with QCB instructions, AFCM requirements, and the bank’s compliance, fraud control, AML/CFT, data protection, and information security frameworks.
  • Support audits and regulatory reviews by providing accurate operational records through permanent staff when requested.
  • Preserve confidentiality, data protection, and ethical standards at all times.
  • Maintain the knowledge needed to remain fully qualified for the role.
  • Follow HR attendance expectations and uphold the highest standards of professionalism.
  • Protect commercially sensitive information through strong data handling and confidentiality practices.
  • Keep all information learned during daily duties strictly confidential.
