About Buzzie

Buzzie is revolutionizing insect protection by crafting the first modern brand that consumers are excited to showcase at home, carry on the go, and recommend widely. Their plant-based, effective products combine functionality with stylish design and relatable branding, empowering families and outdoor enthusiasts to enjoy nature free from bug concerns.

Buzzie's brand has quickly gained traction with a national launch through Nordstrom, appearances on QVC, and an expanding footprint including Amazon, TikTok Shop, Anthropologie, Terrain, and specialty retailers. They prepare for a nationwide retail release alongside a diverse innovation lineup spanning repellents, after-bite care, home goods, and pet products.

Role Overview

As the Fractional VP of Marketing & Brand, with potential to transition full-time, you will lead Buzzie's brand identity and growth marketing efforts comprehensively. A member of the leadership team, you will design and execute an 18-month integrated marketing plan encompassing retail expansion, product innovation, ecommerce, and brand development.

This role expects you to be both a strategic visionary and hands-on executor, building systems, overseeing agencies, and directing teams to maximize performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Formulate and manage an 18-month marketing roadmap, broken down into annual and quarterly plans.
  • Integrate retail, ecommerce, digital, PR, influencer, talent, and seasonal campaigns aligned with product launches and peak sales periods.
  • Determine KPIs, develop reporting frameworks, allocate budgets, and continuously refine strategies based on outcomes.
  • Co-lead marketing functions alongside company leadership, guiding internal teams and external partners through mentorship and accountability.
  • Develop and execute integrated campaigns supporting major retail launches and brand growth.
  • Establish partnerships with creators, influencers, ambassadors, celebrities, and collaborate with retail accounts on co-marketing and PR initiatives.
  • Ensure consistent positioning and messaging across all marketing touchpoints to convey a unified brand narrative.
  • Create executive dashboards to monitor campaign performance, ROI, customer acquisition and retention, and brand awareness, linking marketing spend to business results.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate thrives on organizing complex challenges into actionable strategies that drive measurable growth. They are comfortable overseeing annual plans, analyzing marketing channels, crafting advertising content, developing partnerships, and mentoring teams. The role demands strong alignment skills to coordinate founders, agencies, and internal stakeholders around a shared vision.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Six or more years leading integrated marketing for rapidly-growing consumer brands.
  • Experience in categories such as CPG, beauty, wellness, outdoor, or lifestyle products.
  • Proven success scaling brands via national retail expansions, omnichannel marketing strategies, product rollouts, and influencer/PR programs, managing agencies and cross-functional teams effectively.
  • Combination of analytical strength and creative insight.
  • Background in startup or high-growth environments.

Initial Months Focus

Within the first two months, create a detailed 18-month marketing plan with clear quarterly priorities, KPIs, and reporting systems. Construct an integrated campaign timeline, establish ongoing communication practices, maintain team alignment, and identify top partnership and branding opportunities for the upcoming year.

Long-Term Success Metrics

By 12 to 18 months, the marketing efforts will operate under a unified strategy embraced by leadership and teams. All significant retail and product introductions will have coordinated omnichannel campaigns. Partnerships, influencer engagements, and brand initiatives will expand recognition and accelerate growth. Marketing initiatives will be tracked, optimized, and directly linked to business outcomes.

Compensation Details

The position begins as a contract role with an approximate budget of $8,000 per month, adjustable based on experience and responsibilities. As the company scales and secures funding, there is clear potential for this role to transition into a full-time executive leadership position with increased scope and pay.
