Job description
Role overview
This position supports forest operations across the Business Area Unit by coordinating field activity, checking that work is carried out safely and in line with environmental rules, gathering site information, and helping protect the forest estate. The role also contributes to maintaining a visible local presence for the company.
Terms and conditions
This is a 1-year fixed-term contract. The role reports to the Estates Manager and is based in Ballybofey, County Donegal.
Key duties
- Help coordinate and deliver operational programmes while ensuring site supervision and monitoring meet quality and compliance standards.
- Perform manual tasks such as fitting silt traps, carrying out minor fence repairs, placing operational signage, and handling commencement notices and planning permissions.
- Assist with stakeholder engagement, networking, community public relations activities, and related initiatives.
- Collect field information through site surveys and inspections, including data capture on a mobile device for items such as planting returns, hazardous trees, and biodiversity features.
- Promote a safe working environment for employees, contractors, and customers in the forest.
- Provide field-based information to the Forester to support operational planning.
- Assist with firefighting, fire patrols, and incident reporting.
- Carry out security-related tasks such as monitoring trespass, timber protection, and litter control to help safeguard the timber resource and forest estate.
- Complete roadside stock checks and measurements.
- Support upkeep of recreation and biodiversity areas, traffic management duties, brush cutting, and similar site maintenance work.

Required background and skills
A relevant forestry qualification at HETAC Level 5 is preferred, or at least three years of experience in a forest environment. Good ICT ability is an advantage.
