Role overview
Join the Longford Forest team as a Forest Ranger and help protect a woodland environment that supports guest experiences as well as local wildlife. The role is focused on keeping forest areas safe, well maintained and ecologically healthy, including paths, habitats and waterways.
This position is offered on a fixed-term basis until 19 February 2027.
Key duties
- Look after forest zones and landscaped spaces to keep them in good condition.
- Use specialist equipment and machinery in day-to-day work.
- Assist with conservation tasks and seasonal forestry activities.
- Carry out outdoor work across all weather conditions and throughout the year.
Working pattern
- This is a full-time, fully flexible contract.
- You are guaranteed at least 150 hours across each 4-week period.
- Additional hours may be requested depending on operational needs.
- Shifts can include early starts, weekends and bank holidays.
- Sunday hours attract a premium rate of pay.
- You may also need to take part in the department call-out rota when required.
Candidate profile
- A FETAC Level 2/3 qualification in horticulture or forestry, or equivalent hands-on experience.
- Confidence working outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Practical knowledge of tools and relevant safety practices.
- A full driving licence held for at least 6 months.
