Overview
Join as a Food Safety and Brand Protection Auditor based in Wellington, New Zealand, supporting top food and hospitality brands, primarily Quick Service Restaurants (QSR). This role involves conducting thorough audits to ensure food safety, operational excellence, and compliance with brand standards. The position operates mainly in the Wellington area with some travel across New Zealand as required, offering flexibility as an independent contractor.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform independent audits focused on food safety, hygiene, operational practices, and brand adherence within QSR and hospitality sites.
- Evaluate and identify risks, non-compliance, and opportunities to improve food safety and operational standards.
- Develop comprehensive audit reports and effectively communicate findings to clients.
- Assess client compliance with established food safety programs and recommend actionable improvements to enhance food safety culture and reduce risks.
- Maintain high professional integrity and ethical standards during audits.
- Establish and nurture positive relationships with client teams and site management while ensuring clear, objective communication of audit results.
- Represent the auditing organization professionally, maintaining confidentiality and impartiality throughout each audit engagement.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- A degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Environmental Science, or closely related field.
- Current Exemplar Global Food Safety Auditor certification.
- Current BRCGS Lead Auditor qualification.
- Proven experience conducting food safety audits in high-risk or high-care food environments.
- Experience with witness audits by regulatory bodies equivalent to the NSW Food Authority.
- Strong expertise in HACCP, food safety systems, and quality management principles.
- Excellent skills in communication and report writing.
- Capable of independently managing multiple audit assignments.
Preferred Experience
- Auditing experience within Quick Service Restaurant settings.
- Familiarity with hospitality or hotel environments.
- Background as an independent consultant or contractor in the field.
- Knowledge of food manufacturing, retail safety standards, or brand protection programs.
- Willingness to travel as necessary across New Zealand.
