Job summary
This role is for a Food Safety Officer with 1 to 3 years of experience in the food sector. The position focuses on maintaining food safety compliance, managing licensing needs, and safeguarding hygiene and quality across operations. Background in beverages, dairy, or food manufacturing will be an added advantage.
Key responsibilities
- Keep all food safety processes aligned with FSSAI requirements and other relevant regulations.
- Manage the full licensing lifecycle, including new applications, renewals, and supporting documentation for food business operations.
- Carry out routine inspections and audits at the Howrah warehouse to confirm hygiene and safety standards are being followed.
- Design, implement, and oversee Food Safety Management Systems (FSMS).
- Preserve accurate records for quality checks, inspection findings, and compliance reporting.
- Liaise with government authorities and internal stakeholders for audits, approvals, and related follow-ups.
- Spot compliance or safety risks and suggest corrective as well as preventive measures.
- Train employees on food safety procedures, hygiene practices, and standard operating processes.
- Ensure food products are labeled, stored, and handled properly.
Required qualifications and experience
- A bachelor’s degree in Food Technology, Microbiology, Biotechnology, or a related discipline.
- 1 to 3 years of relevant experience in the food, beverage, or dairy industry.
- Practical understanding of FSSAI regulations and food safety compliance requirements.
- Experience with licensing work and regulatory paperwork.
- Ability to independently conduct inspections and audits.
- Strong written and verbal communication along with good documentation skills.
- Willingness to travel to the Howrah warehouse as needed.
Preferred background
- Exposure to beverage or dairy production environments.
- Working knowledge of HACCP, ISO 22000, or similar food safety standards.
- Hands-on experience in quality control and quality assurance processes.
