What you will do

Reporting to the Executive Chef, you will work across the kitchen and wider hospital campus to support food and beverage service operations. This includes serving patients, helping maintain a clean and efficient work environment, and assisting the broader kitchen team as needed.

  • Prepare and serve a range of quality beverages for patients.
  • Welcome and assist patients, clients, and staff with a professional, helpful approach.
  • Wash and sanitise dishes, and keep kitchen areas clean and orderly.
  • Prepare staff tearooms for meal breaks and daily use.
  • Support food preparation and service when required.
  • Maintain and service coffee machines across the hospital so they operate effectively.
  • Deliver meals to rooms and clear trays after service.
  • Follow the hospital’s Food Control Plan and comply with health and safety requirements.

Work schedule

The role is for 35 hours each week. Shifts include early starts from 6:30am and late finishes up to 8:45pm. Weekend work is part of a rotating roster, and flexibility to work holidays is expected.

What you need

To succeed in this position, you will bring strong service skills, practical kitchen support experience, and the ability to stay calm and effective in a busy environment.

  • Excellent customer service and communication abilities.
  • Confidence working independently while still being a dependable team contributor.
  • Previous experience in food and beverage service or kitchen support.
  • Comfort handling several tasks in a fast-moving setting.
  • A willingness to help with dishwashing and other hands-on tasks.
  • High attention to detail and a strong focus on cleanliness and quality.
  • Adaptability to move between different kitchen duties as needed.
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
  • The ability to work collaboratively and maintain consistent standards.
