Role overview

The Heritage is a luxury hotel and award-winning spa in the Laois countryside, known for refined style and attentive guest service. The property is hiring Food and Beverage Assistants to join its existing Food & Beverage team on part-time and casual shift patterns.

Main duties

  • Welcome guests in a warm, courteous way, using eye contact and a smile where appropriate.
  • Keep the assigned service area neat, organised, and presentable throughout the shift.
  • Carry out service preparation tasks such as setting tables, restocking stations, and making tea or coffee.
  • Clear, polish, and store crockery, cutlery, and glassware correctly to reduce breakage and loss while upholding standards.
  • Take guest orders accurately and support sales by suggesting suitable products when relevant.
  • Deliver food and beverage service in a polite, efficient, and professional manner.
  • Maintain high cleanliness standards across the bar and restaurant areas.
  • Handle guest complaints professionally and efficiently to help ensure satisfaction.
  • Show strong knowledge of wines, spirits, and menu items.
  • Manage complaints discreetly and escalate issues to management when necessary.
  • Carry out other reasonable duties assigned by management.

Key responsibilities

  • Deliver food and beverage service in line with the agreed service standards.
  • Provide friendly, efficient, professional service to every guest.
  • Keep the bar and restaurant clean and tidy to a consistently high standard.
  • Greet all guests in a welcoming and courteous manner.
  • Respond to customer concerns promptly and professionally, always aiming for guest satisfaction.
  • Be available for flexible working patterns, including early shifts, late shifts, weekends, and bank holidays.

Candidate profile

The right person will bring a professional, approachable attitude and a clear focus on excellent customer service. Experience working in a busy hospitality environment is preferred, ideally around 1 year in a high-volume setting, although full training will be provided. The role suits someone who works well in a team, can juggle multiple tasks, pays close attention to detail, and communicates clearly. Good spoken English is required.

This position is well suited to someone who wants to build a career in food and beverage service.
