Role Overview
This position is for an Inspector handling Food & Agri Products and Seafood Products. The role centers on checking whether products, facilities, and processes meet food safety, quality, regulatory, and certification standards.
What You Will Do
- Carry out inspections of seafood, food, and agricultural products to confirm compliance with quality, safety, and regulatory standards.
- Review production and processing sites to verify hygiene, sanitation, and contamination control practices.
- Check that local, national, and international requirements are followed, including rules on labeling and traceability.
- Examine sourcing, processing, and distribution records to confirm traceability and compliance.
- Prepare clear inspection reports covering observations, non-compliances, violations, and corrective actions recommended.
- Inspect food and agriculture facilities, including seafood processing plants, to assess conformity with safety and quality expectations.
- Evaluate product labeling and supporting documentation against regulatory rules and industry standards.
- Discuss inspection outcomes with clients and stakeholders, and guide them on compliance improvements.
- Keep up to date with changes in food safety regulations, standards, and industry developments relevant to food, agri, and seafood products.
- Work with internal teams to improve inspection methods and strengthen client support.
- Take part in training sessions and workshops for clients and employees on food safety and quality practices.
- Contribute to ongoing improvement efforts aimed at enhancing inspection quality and client satisfaction.
Candidate Profile
The ideal applicant should hold a bachelor’s degree in food science, agriculture, marine biology, or a similar discipline. The role requires at least 5 years of experience in food and agricultural product inspection or quality assurance, along with solid knowledge of food safety regulations and standards, especially in seafood processing.
Strong analytical ability, attention to detail, clear communication, and interpersonal skills are important. The candidate should be comfortable working on their own, managing several inspections and projects at once, and using relevant software or tools.
Preferred Qualifications
QIMA lists a bachelor’s degree in food science, agriculture, marine biology, or a related field as a preferred qualification, along with 5 or more years of experience in food and agricultural product inspection or quality assurance and strong knowledge of food safety rules, standards, and best practices, particularly for seafood processing.
