Role overview

BAM UK & Ireland is seeking an FM Quantity Surveyor to join the team at the Kill, Kildare head office. The role sits within Facilities Management, supporting a portfolio that includes long-term 25-year PPP contracts as well as projects across education, commercial, and retail environments. It offers the chance to build a long-term career in FM with room to grow into the Commercial Team.

The position focuses on cost control, tender administration, small works oversight, and procurement support. It calls for a detail-focused professional with strong organisation and the ability to work closely with multiple stakeholders.

The working arrangement is flexible, combining remote work with time at BAM offices and occasional travel to site.

Key duties

  • Gather monthly cost and revenue information for inclusion in monthly reporting.
  • Check completed work against revenue and reconcile the figures in reports.
  • Prepare tender documentation and circulate it to subcontractors.
  • Assess and compare bids returned by subcontractors.
  • Raise orders and monitor contract renewal timelines.
  • Continuously review and refresh subcontractor packages and pricing.
  • Carry out cost reviews for current and planned packages.
  • Spot opportunities to reduce costs and improve efficiency.
  • Produce quotations covering Capex, operational, and lifecycle costs, then track progress and keep the Operations Team and client updated.
  • Keep records current for job completion, sign-off, and invoicing.
  • Compile packages for specialist subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Evaluate tender submissions from subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Supply details relating to subcontracts and subcontractors.
  • Resolve invoicing matters and subcontract-related queries.
  • Support the sourcing of products and subcontractors.

Candidate profile

The ideal applicant should hold a bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Project Management, or a related discipline, along with at least 3 years of experience in a similar position. Strong Microsoft Office skills are required, and familiarity with COINS software would be an advantage. The role also calls for analytical thinking, problem-solving ability, and strong communication and interpersonal skills.
