Job Summary
The Fleet Manager will take charge of the company’s vehicle operations, making sure the fleet is safe, compliant, well-maintained, efficiently used, and financially sustainable. This role supports tourism, corporate transport, and rental activities by keeping vehicles roadworthy and available, while also working to reduce running costs and improve overall fleet performance.
The position includes responsibility for drivers, servicing schedules, licensing, insurance, fuel oversight, GPS monitoring, and fleet reporting to support reliable service delivery and strong operational standards.
Fleet Operations Management
- Direct the daily running of the full vehicle fleet.
- Assign vehicles efficiently across tours, transfers, rental bookings, and corporate transport needs.
- Track vehicle usage and improve productivity across the fleet.
- Maintain enough vehicle availability to handle peak-demand periods.
Vehicle Maintenance and Repairs
- Create and manage preventive maintenance plans.
- Ensure all vehicles are serviced, repaired, and inspected on time.
- Review the performance of workshops and outside maintenance vendors.
- Keep complete and accurate maintenance histories for each vehicle.
- Reduce vehicle downtime through forward planning and timely intervention.
Fleet Asset Management
- Keep an up-to-date register of all fleet assets.
- Track vehicle age, mileage, and replacement timelines.
- Advise on fleet growth or disposal based on operational requirements.
- Coordinate processes for purchasing and retiring vehicles.
Driver Management
- Lead, supervise, and assess drivers.
- Ensure driver conduct aligns with company rules and road safety requirements.
- Arrange induction and regular refresher training for drivers.
- Monitor punctuality, service quality, discipline, and overall performance.
- Look into accidents and incidents involving drivers.
Fuel and Cost Control
- Track fuel usage and investigate any unusual variances.
- Put measures in place to improve fuel efficiency.
- Oversee fuel card use and reconciliation processes.
- Manage fleet operating expenses and identify savings opportunities.
- Monitor tyre wear and replacement schedules.
Compliance and Safety
- Make sure all vehicles keep valid roadworthiness certificates, insurance, licenses, permits, fire extinguishers, and first aid kits.
- Ensure compliance with DVLA requirements and other transport regulations.
- Encourage safe driving practices and accident prevention across the fleet.
GPS and Fleet Monitoring
- Use GPS tracking tools to monitor vehicle movement.
- Confirm that drivers follow approved routes and speed limits.
- Investigate any unauthorized use of vehicles.
- Prepare movement and utilization reports for the fleet.
Budget and Financial Management
- Prepare yearly fleet budgets.
- Monitor maintenance and operational spending.
- Check supplier invoices for accuracy.
- Negotiate favorable terms with garages, tyre suppliers, insurers, and fuel vendors.
Reporting
- Submit weekly and monthly reports covering fleet utilization, fuel use, maintenance costs, vehicle downtime, accident records, driver performance, repair schedules, fleet availability, and cost-saving initiatives.
Key Performance Indicators
- Maintain fleet availability above 95%.
- Keep vehicle downtime below 5%.
- Complete maintenance according to schedule.
- Keep fuel use within approved benchmarks.
- Reduce maintenance spending over time.
- Ensure there are no expired insurance or roadworthiness documents.
- Lower the number of accidents and traffic violations.
- Support strong customer satisfaction for transport services.
- Replace aging fleet assets on time.
Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree in Transport Management, Logistics, Mechanical Engineering, Business Administration, or a similar discipline is required. A professional certification in Fleet Management will be considered an added advantage.
Experience
The ideal candidate should bring at least 8 years of experience in fleet management. Background in tourism, transport, car rental, or logistics will be preferred. Experience in supervising drivers and overseeing vehicle maintenance is also expected.

Working Conditions
This role involves time spent across office settings, vehicle yards, workshops, airports, hotels, and other operational locations. The position may also require availability after normal working hours to handle emergencies, vehicle breakdowns, or urgent operational concerns.
